Have we mentioned how much we adore Mailchimp here at Chimp Answers?

Especially how they’re constantly cooking up new features and updates to make their platform even better.

The field of email marketing is constantly changing, but  Mailchimp as ever, just keeps pace with the latest trends.

Take Mailchimps new email builder for example …

Sure, it had a few initial glitches, especially during the Beta phase.

However, now that it’s fully launched, we can confidently say that we are not only converts but also BIG Advocates.

We genuinely believe that everyone should give it a try.

 Mailchimps New builder?

It’s a powerful tool for your business.

Not just because of its easy-to-use and more refined interface but because it offers so many more advanced functionalities and integrations that give you everything you need to create impactful marketing emails for your audience.

Whether you’re a seasoned email marketer or just starting out, Mailchimps new Email Builder provides a fresh and modern approach to email creation.

Keep reading as we give you our 6 reasons as to why you should try the new Mailchimp Builder.

Quick Note:You can switch your default builder at any time by going to your Profile icon > selecting ‘Account and Billing’ > clicking the ‘Settings’ drop-down menu > and choosing ‘Details’ > then scrolling to the ‘Default Email Builder’ section.

When you create a template or email, you’ll access it in the version of the builder you used to create it, even if you switch to your default.

1. It’s a MUCH Better User Experience

Open it up and you can see that the new interface is a lot more streamlined with a simpler layout not to mention loads of new options which will help to boost your productivity and creativity.

I mean, it just looks good everywhere.

You’ll be spoilt for choice with over 75 new email templates allowing you to design and create quality content with ease.

It’s a fact: The new builder is a lot simpler to use, you don’t even have to worry about making mistakes with your template as there is now an option to undo/redo edits to your draft.

The new builder uses an inline approach when creating an email, while the classic builder has a more drag-and-drop approach. This new design gives you more control over the way you build your emails, it somehow feels more intuitive making the simplest tasks seem effortless.

If you’re looking to design attractive and professional-looking emails without the coding expertise you’ve got no excuse not to give it a whirl.

2. Mobile responsiveness

Ensuring your emails are optimised for various devices is crucial.

Mailchimp’s new builder addresses this need with its collection of responsive design templates. Whether you’re using desktops, tablets, or smartphones you can guarantee an optimised experience for your subscribers as the screen will adapt based on what device the email is viewed on.

3. Improved Design Flexibility

One of the best features of the builder in the first place is  its drag-and-drop functionality and the new builder  is the DADDY with its range of  new versatile content blocks and styles.

This makes the New builder Ideal for those seeking more design options with a smoother workflow.

You can also change the styles of individual content blocks without accidentally changing the default styles of your email and can move most content blocks or layouts anywhere in your template.

What’s more, there are a stash of new blocks available such as the Apps content block which lets you integrate with third-party platforms, the Content Optimizer which gives you guidance on your marketing content as well as a Survey content block to collect all that precious feedback from your customers.

E-commerce stores now have more dynamic product recommendation feeds, order notifications, and promo code blocks.

Remember how hard it is to organise the space between blocks in the old builder?

The new Spacer content is a simple and effective way to move your content letting you control the amount of space between blocks in your email.

Don’t even get me started on the newly updated layout blocks (more on this later…)

4. You Get Personalised Recommendations

The content Optimiser feature gives marketing suggestions based on the current best practices.

This feature pulls the data from highly effective email campaigns to provide personalised recommendations to help improve your email, including suggestions for email copy, layout, design, and imagery.

5. The Updated Layout Blocks

(The pre-built layouts are the best)

When designing an email we use layouts to create columned areas for the content you want to include in your email.

Blank layouts provide areas for you to place content blocks wherever you want and there are now Prebuilt layouts included to help you get started.

The great thing about this is that when you add a Prebuilt layout, you’ll be able to choose from the available Image & Text or Text & Text options.

 6. Integration with third-party Platforms

The Apps content block lets you Integrate third-party platforms to pull in content from those integrations. You can seamlessly integrate your email campaigns with other marketing channels and platforms, including social media, e-commerce, and CRM systems, to create great marketing experiences for your subscribers.

Classic Vs New? It’s Down to You

It’s important to look at both sides of the coin.  Because although we love the new builder and haven’t stopped raving about it for the last 3 minutes, there are some limitations.

For example, the new email builder does not allow you to custom-code a template, or embed an RSS feed in your email, you can’t share content blocks or templates created in the old builder either.

But look at it this way it simply takes 2 ticks to switch back to the Classic builder if you wanted any of those options.

And yes we get it, there may be features that some users may miss from the old builder such as certain layout options or content blocks.

But let’s be honest this really shouldn’t matter as they’ve just been replaced with bigger and better options.

Despite these differences, the benefits and potential of the new Mailchimp email builder far outweigh any initial adjustments, offering users a comprehensive platform that adapts to their needs in the ever-changing world of email marketing.

Final Thoughts

It’s clear to see how Mailchimp remains committed to staying at the forefront of email marketing trends by providing its users with cutting-edge features.

This truly shines through with the introduction of their new email builder.

The new builder brings a range of advantages for everyone whether you’re just starting out or have plenty of experience.

With improved design flexibility, enhanced user experience, personalised recommendations, and seamless integration with third-party platforms, Mailchimp has truly stepped up its game.

Unfortunately, the new builder occasionally erases all the content in a block, and there is no undo feature to get it back. It also reformats any pasted content, justifying it to center. It has some nice features, but I hope they can fix the bugs and figure out how to put an undo button in it.
